Calling all current lifeguards and those who want to become lifeguard certified!
In conjunction with the City of Boonville, we will hold a Lifeguard Certification March 20th-22nd.

This will be a Red Cross Lifeguard certification with the class taking place at the Boonslick Heartland YMCA.  Those who register must be at least 15 years old and will be required to successfully complete the swim prerequisites.

Pre-requisite 1-  Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping to rest.

Pre-requisite 2:  Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds: Jump into the water and totally submerge, resuface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.

Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs, swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or combination of both.

Starting in the water swim 20 yards, submerge to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10lb block, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face out or near the surface of the water.

Must be able to exit the water without a ladder or steps.

The fee is $200, and you must attend all three dates.  Friday, March 20th: 4-8pm; Saturday and Sunday (21st and 22nd):  8am-5pm
